Guitar Lessons - Wellington & Porirua
Whether you are a complete beginner, or an experienced guitarist looking for new skills, I can guide you through the steps in a relaxed, friendly environment. I have taught students aged 7 to 70, and whatever your goals, I am confident that I can help you get there.
I have over 30 years experience teaching guitar in the Wellington region; At my boat shed in Titahi Bay, as well as 25 years at Wellesley College, 20 years at Scots College and 10 years at Queen Margaret’s College.
While I mostly teach songs from the Rock and Pop world (both acoustic and electric), Folk, Country, Blues, and Alternative styles will also be covered depending on the interests of each student. I encourage all my students to suggest songs by artists that they would like to learn, as I know that we all have “bucket list” songs that we would love to be able to play. I’m still working on mine!
The fundamentals of reading will be covered but I typically teach using tablature and ear training. I only teach theory as and when it is appropriate to the standard and interests of the student.
"Songs will come and go, but good technique is forever."
Learn properly and you'll learn faster and enjoy the process a lot more.
I encourage you to contact me for more information or to book a lesson time. Lessons are $40.00 (Titahi Bay) and $45 (City) per half hour.
